American Legion Post 36 is the largest and one of the most active Posts in Kalamazoo County, offering a welcoming community built on service, fellowship, and purpose. Members enjoy a strong sense of camaraderie, a Post that actively supports veterans and their families, and an organization deeply engaged with local youth, schools, and community partners. From lectures and flag events to parades, golf outings, seniorcenter visits, VA activities, and veteran information sessions, Post 36 provides countless opportunities to get involved—and to have a good time doing it. Post 36 proudly supports the Western Michigan University Army ROTC program and the WMU Student Veterans Group, strengthening our connection to the next generation of serviceminded leaders. As a friendly and forwardthinking Post, we offer regular opportunities for participation each month, whether you prefer handson volunteer work, social gatherings, or simply staying informed. Members receive monthly email updates, access to Executive Committee and Post meeting minutes, and the option to join many meetings via Zoom. We also conduct periodic buddy checks to ensure the wellbeing of our members. Whether you’re looking to serve, connect, or simply enjoy fellowship with others who share your values, Post 36 offers a place where you—and your spouse—can feel at home and be part of something meaningful.
